NOTE: I am getting a lot of inquiries at this time! If you have sent an email and not received a reply please be patient (I do not check it every day), if you have a question that requires a prompt reply please send me a message through my Facebook page @kesselrunicelandics! I will always respond to those same day (likely within a few hours), while emails may sit for a week or so before I get to it. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and I look forward to talking to all of you!

Things you should know before applying

- You do not get to pick your puppy, we chose all puppy placements, however, you can of course refuse any puppy offered and wait for a later litter

-New puppy homes are NOT CHOSEN until puppies are between 8-10 weeks of age! This means I will not be able to tell you who is spoken for and who is not before this point, and in some cases, I may not even know until this time if I have something that is suitable to you at all. I understand it’s hard to wait and not know, but it’s to ensure that the best possible matches are made for both the puppy and the family.

- I do not require deposits, I do require that puppy purchase price is paid at the time of pickup or prior to departure for those flying out of state

- All puppies must come back if no longer wanted for any reason, and at any point in their life.

- You will be required to sign a contract when purchasing a Kessel Run puppy. This protects BOTH of us and the puppy.

- ALL puppies are sold on co-own contracts only. This is the same for pet puppies and show prospects. A co-own means that my name remains on the dogs AKC paperwork until they are spay/neutered. At that point you have the option to have my name taken off, however most people opt to leave it on as a safety net for their dog. I am not a controlling co-owner, the dog is yours, I have no interest in dictating what you do with your dog. I’m happy to discuss this policy with anyone who is concerned but it is non negotiable.

- At this time I do not sell dogs as service dog prospects. The breed as a whole is really not suitable, though a few individuals might be able to succeed in this area, I’m are not comfortable with the odds being so heavily against them when there are many other far more suitable breeds available.

Lots of information about our puppy buying process can be found on our litters page

The Application

Thank you for your interest in Kessel Run's Icelandic Sheepdogs!

Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions and to tell us a little about yourselves. While this questionnaire is a little extensive, it will help me to evaluate whether or not an Icelandic Sheepdog would be a good fit for your lifestyle, as well as enables me to better match you with the best Icelandic Sheepdog for your family.

Please answer all questions as completely and honestly as possible, more information is ALWAYS better than less. This is our best tool for choosing a puppy that would best fit into your life!

All information is confidential, and will not be shared. It will be used as a screening tool to properly place my beloved puppies.

THIS QUESTIONNAIRE IS NOT AN AGREEMENT FOR KESSEL RUN KENNEL TO SELL YOU A DOG. THESE QUESTIONS WILL HELP US DETERMINE WHETHER YOU ARE A FIT FOR ONE OF OUR PUPPIES. WE DO NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES THAT WE WILL OFFER TO SELL YOU A PUPPY. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE THE SALE OF A PUPPY. AND LIKEWISE, COMPLETING AN APPLICATION DOES NOT REQUIRE COMMITMENT TO PURCHASE.

 Next Steps:

From here is a lot of waiting, and I do apologize for that, it’s just the nature of dealing with living animals. They do not always follow my timeline! Within a few weeks of submitting this application, you should get an email reply letting you know if you have been approved or denied. If you do not hear from me within a few weeks feel free to reach back out and check where it is. Once approved you will receive updates about breeding plans and progress updates. Once a litter is born I will post daily on the kennel Facebook page @kesselrunicelandics. The process section on our litters page will tell you a little more about the actual puppy selection process and timeline once puppies are on the ground.

We strongly encourage all prospective owners to meet some Icelandic Sheepdogs in person and learn as much as possible about the breed. If you are local, I’m are always willing to schedule a meeting. If you are not I will do my best to connect you to an owner or breeder in your area! This group So You think you want an Icelandic Sheepdog? Is a very helpful resource and includes a map of local owners and breeders interested in networking!

My waitlist is not first come first serve, and not a guarantee of a puppy, but rather a rough order for placement if one puppy would do equally well in two separate homes, the option to buy would be given to the person higher on the list. Otherwise first and foremost my goal is to place puppies in the homes where they are the most likely to be successful.

Thank you for completing our questionnaire. I will be in contact with you soon!
